NEWS RELEASE
Rivers Elementary School is pleased to announce that our grant application has been approved with the Teacher Idea Fund for Nature-based pedagogy and mental health at our school for the amount of $112,000.
We are excited to partner with Brandon University, The Manitoba Gov’t, our school, and community to make this project work.
With this grant we will expand our focus on land-based learning, implementing The Mamahtawisiwin framework and improving student mental health.
We intend to incorporate outdoor education principles into daily learning within the school and infusing it with Indigenous ways of knowing and doing.
Current research states that outdoor learning can help to improve student achievement while helping to support positive mental health.
